If there’s even a one percent chance, we have to take it as an absolute certainty!
Warner Bros. just announced that their long awaited Justice League will begin shooting April 11th, just two weeks after their upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice releases. The film will once again be helmed by Man of Steel and BvS director Zack Snyder. Concerning Justice League, he had this to say:
It was a little bit of an ‘about time’ moment, and I don’t blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it’s a long time coming, but I do feel like it’s a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, ‘Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.’ But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist.”
To me this news almost feels like a response to rumors that Justice League might be pushed back in favor of a solo Batman film due to the alleged negative response to BvS. I’m not quite sure if this is an example of WB showing confidence in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or them simply putting on a brave front as to not garner any more negative press for the film. I’m hoping for the former, but the cynic in me is expecting the latter.
The lead up to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has certainly been one filled with drama. When initial details of the film were made available people were worried that the film might be overstuffed. But once the first trailer released I’d say it silenced a majority of the films skeptics. Most people (including me) were feeling pretty positive about BvS before the atrocious second trailer dropped that honestly killed a large majority of the hype I held for this film. WB had to enter damage control mode.
WB wised up and released their final trailer that seemed to address all of the issues that most had with the previous trailer. But not even a few hours later the rumors from Hitfix began to circulate, dampening the excitement. The roller coaster ride that is this film continues with Justice League announcement. I have no idea what to believe anymore.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice releases March 25.
What do you guys think? Do you think the hitfix rumors hold any merit? Will Justice League actually start filming April 11? Let us know in the comments below.
