Reportedly there weren’t enough fourth wall breaks in Gambit.
Gambit has seen its fair share of pre-production trouble ever since its initial announcement. Between the budget concerns, the will he/won’t he game Channing Tatum played with accepting the role, and the incoming release date that seemed impossible to make, Fox has finally taken Gambit off their film slate.
Initially the film was set to be released on October 6th of this year, but considering the fact that the film still has not even begun shooting, that date seemed less and less likely. With an estimated budget of $150 million, this film was shaping up to be DOA. It seems Fox finally wised up and decided to rethink their plan for Gambit. It is now unknown when the film will finally come out.
However in the same announcement, Fox set the dates for two untitled Marvel films for release on Oct. 6, 2017, and Jan. 12, 2018. If I was a betting man, I would say most definitely one of those is the Deadpool sequel, and one is the in development untitled final Wolverine film. Rumors are there is also an X-Force film in development, but that seems unlikely to be one of the announced films. If those rumors are true, I would think Fox would need to get the Deadpool sequel out the door first.
