Give me the extended edition already.

Yesterday the trailer for the blu ray release for Star Wars: The Force Awakens  dropped and showed off some interesting footage, including a deleted scene focused on Kylo Ren.

In it we see Kylo Ren searching the Millenium Falcon with a squad of snow troopers presumably on Starkiller Base, and Kylo Ren is heard muttering “Han Solo”. This scene is interesting because canonically it took place within novel adaptation of TFA, but it will be cool to see the actual scene. While I would have liked to have seen it in the film, as I think it would have added a bit more to the “big scene”, but I see how it could have messed up the pacing of the final act.

That is not the only deleted scene however, here is a list of scenes that will be included with the home release:

  • Finn and The Villager
  • Jakku Message
  • X-Wings Prepare for Lightspeed
  • Kylo Searches The Falcon
  • Snow Speeder Chase
  • Finn Will Be Fine

Besides the Kylo scene, the ones that interest me the most are the Snow Speeder Chase and the Finn Will Be Fine scenes. I’m not sure exactly where the Snow Speeder Chase could have occurred in the film, so it will be interesting to see the context of that. The Finn scene is also intriguing, as the film left his fate fairly ambiguous at the end (we all know that he is alive though). I’m curious to see how this scene will elaborate on Finn’s current status.
