This trailer could have used a bit more of Queen.
A new trailer for Hardcore Henry just dropped today and it continues to look absolutely insane. The notion of a completely first person action movie really has me really anticipating this film, as the concept as so much potential. It looks like it could be the most faithful adaptation of a video game, even though its a completely original property.
The vision director Ilya Naishuller has for this film is something genuinely unique, and that is very exciting. All of the action looks nuts, but it remains unknown if this style of film can hold up for a full length feature. All of the actual action scenes look extremely visceral and effective from the first person. Watching this trailer was almost like watching the a first person view of the church scene in Kingsman: The Secret Service. If the entire film can maintain that sort of energy and momentum, then I think we’re in for a wild ride.
I will say this trailer wasn’t as strong as the last and didn’t leave near as much an impression on me as the first one, but it did its job in reminding me of this film’s existence. While the last trailer helped set up the plot, this one is pure action. I guess we’ll see how it turns out once it finally releases!

Hardcore Henry makes its debut on April 8th, check out the synopsis below:
Strap in. Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time: You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he’s a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley.) He may be on your side, but you aren’t sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You’re likely going to need it…
