This is everything I wanted it to be.

The first trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange just dropped and boy what a trailer it was. It gave us our first look at the mystical world Doctor Strange will inhabit, as a well as a glimpse at diverse cast and some really mind numbing visuals. This movie looks like it’s going to be a mind f**k.

I have to say I’m really liking everything I’ve seen fromDoctor Strange so far. It just looks so…unique compared to the rest of the MCU. This trailer alone has visually distinguished itself and looks to be providing some beautiful and psychedelic imagery. This is exactly what I wanted from a Doctor Strange movie: the insanity that inhabited the early 60s and 70s comics.

Director Scott Derrickson seems to have really knocked it out of the park with this trailer, and seems to have taken some influence from Inception’s dream sequences. This trailer gives a  small taste at the alternate-dimension insanity that the rest of the film surely contains, and I have to say I’m ready for some mind-bending visuals.

We get our first looks at Benedict Cumberbatch himself as Doctor Strange, sporting an American accent surprisingly. I really thought he would use his natural British accent for the character, but I’m not complaining. Seeing him in the trailer is like seeing Stephen Strange ripped right out of the comics, and really confirming to me that Cumberbatchwas the right choice.

We also got brief looks at Tilda Swinton’s androgynous version of the Ancient One, and she looks very cool, as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor as Strange’s friend turned rival Baron Mordo. I’m a huge fan of Ejiofor’s work., so I’m really excited to see him join the MCU. We also got a look at Mads Mikkelsen’s unknown character, and from the brief shots of him he looks to be very creepy.

Check out the trailer for yourselves below:
