batmanvsuperman-1

Look it’s Jena Malone!

Look, I’m definitely not the biggest fan of Batman v Superman, but I could see the kernel of a good movie in there. A very small, almost microscopic kernel. I think this movie got killed in the editing room, especially once I learned that 30 minutes had been cut from director Zack Snyder’s preferred cut. Now, 30 minutes is a lot of time, but I’m not sure if it’s enough to save BvS. An extended cut did wonders to the quality of Snyder’s Watchmen, so hopefully this film gets the same treatment.

Nevertheless I am extremely curious to check out this extended, r-rated cut of Batman v Superman, and luckily we won’t have to wait much longer. Warner Bros. just dropped a trailer and release date for the Ultimate Cut blu ray, check it out:

Superman actually talks in this! More Batman action! Jena Malone! There is a lot of new stuff in this trailer, but nothing that really gets me pumped to see it. I have an almost morbid curiosity about this cut of the film, because it could just end up being a bad movie that’s thirty minutes longer. I’m crossing my fingers, expecting the worst, but hoping for the best. Just how I initially went in to watch Batman v Superman in theaters.

I guess we’ll see if a longer cut improves the film when it gets a digital release on June 28th, and its blu ray release on July 19th.
