Duuuh duh da duh, duuuuh duuuh duuuuh duuuh, duh duh da duuuh.

One thing the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always struggled with is musical cohesion. Besides a few themes and leitmotifs, there has been little to no consistency with its film soundtracks and scores. The soundtracks have never been bad, they’ve just hardly been memorable.

The original Avengers features the now iconic Avengers theme, scored by the great Alan Silvestri. Unfortunately, he did not return for Age of Ultron due to scheduling conflicts, so Joss Whedon employed the talents of Danny Elfman to compose much of the soundtrack, including the new theme.

I really dug the new theme, and appreciated how it hearkened back to the original theme. It was different, but it was still good and had that classic Avengers feel, but I still missed the charm of Silvestri’s work. Well luckily, we won’t have to miss it for much longer.

Silvestri made the announcement himself that he was returning to the MCU to score both of their culminating Films Formerly Known as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. I’m excited that we’ll more than likely get to hear the original Avengers theme again, plus hear how he incorporates the various new characters that have joined the Avengers roster since the original film.

The Film Formerly Known as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 hits theaters May 4th, 2018.

Here’s a few of my favorite tracks from the MCU:
