And God wept.
If you’re like me, you have an extreme morbid curiosity at the cynical film making that goes into crafting a film out of Tetris of all video game properties. Well, prepare to have your curiosity piqued even more, as we are now getting a Tetris saga. You best believe it folks.
Larry Kasanoff is determined to get this epic put to screen, and he chatted with Empire Magazine about his vision for the franchise. Apparently, the Tetris movie is too big for one film. I can’t make this shit up guys:
“…the story we conceived is so big. This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story.”
And just how do you make a trilogy out of Tetris you may ask? Don’t worry, Kasanoff is here for you:
“We want the story to be a surprise, but it’s a big science-fiction movie. I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos.”
“No-one has come remotely close to figuring out what we’re doing”
I have absolutely no idea what that could possibly mean, but by god is that intriguing. And I don’t mean intriguing as in “wow this sounds like an interesting movie”. No, I’m intrigued by how ridiculous this sounds, and I can’t wait to see this train wreck of a film trying to justify the existence of a Tetris trilogy, while at the same time acting as a pseudo high-concept science fiction movie.
This is just so insane, that I can’t wait to hear more. I guess that’s what the film makers want…damn it.
