Justin Timberlake is the latest addition to the already stacked cast of the currently untitled Woody Allen project. Timerblake will be joining Kate Winslet and Juno Temple and Jim Belushi. Here’s the announcement from Variety:
The film, written and directed by Allen, is a drama set in New York City in the late 1950s. Allen is producing with Letty Aronson, Erika Aronson and Edward Walson. The pic marks Allen’s 48th feature and begins shooting in New York this fall.
Although details are sparse, it definitely sounds Woody Allen-y. Timberlake has been making quite a name for himself recently in the world of acting, giving a stellar performance in the fantastic Inside Llewyn Davis, as well as his earlier work in Fincher’s The Social Network. The dude has some great acting chops, as well as some impressive comedic timing, seen in all his various SNL appearances, as well as his hilarious cameo in this year’s Popstar.
It’s not very hard to get excited for a new film by Allen, but Timberlake being added to the cast only increases that excitement. A few years ago it would be weird to get excited about Timberlake appearing in the film, but the dude has put together quite the acting resume, so good on him.
This untitled project is set to shoot this fall, but Allen has another film coming out this year titled Cafe Society, which you can check out when it hits theaters July 15th.
