What a shocking development.
Marvel revealed a ton of stuff this year at Comic Con, but they ended the show with a long awaited bomb drop: Captain Marvel casting news. And if the title of this article didn’t make you aware, Carol Danvers will be played by none other than Oscar wining actess Brie Larson.
Larson has been rumored to be in the running for the beloved Marvel superhero for quite sometime, but this is the first official confirmation we’ve gotten. No other information is available at this time, but the fact that we finally have our Captain Marvel is pretty exciting. Larson is an extremely talented actress, and I’m really looking forward to her joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the casting announcement made before any sort of directorial announcement, methinks that Danvers will be making an appearance in The Film Formerly Known as Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, which is scheduled to begin filming in November of this year. It would make sense for Marvel to want to lock down an actress to play the character is she is to make an appearance in the film, but this is merely speculation on my part.
Captain Marvel is currently slated for release March 8th, 2019. Here’s the announcement straight from Larson herself:
