The first teaser for Denis Villeneuve’s (Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners) science fiction alien film Arrival dropped today, and what it lacks in length it makes up for in pure intrigue. This looks like a film to watch out for this year. Check it out:
While it’s light on any real story details (or much else for that matter), I love the feeling and sense of mystery the teaser presents. All we know is there is a weird oval ship, aliens are on it, and it’s up to Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner to find out what the hell is going on. It’s a pretty interesting premise, and I’m so glad this teaser had the foresight to not show any footage of the actual aliens.
This was but an appetizer, apparently we have a full meal coming in the form of a trailer coming to us next week. I’m almost tempted to avoid it completely, as this film looks to be one that would benefit from going in blind. But alas, I write for a movie blog, so I’ll definitely be doing another write-up once that trailer drops.
Arrival just shot up pretty high on my most anticipated list, and we’ll all be able to watch Amy Adams translate for aliens when the film hits theaters November 11th.
