eeEEEEEYYAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRNNNGG.
What’s more Japanese than Godzilla? What’s more Japanese than anime? What about a Godzilla anime? That’s like, double Japanese.
Well, it’s happening. Toho, the Japanese company who owns Godzilla, is planning on producing their own feature length Godzilla animated film, simply titled: Godzilla. This comes from a report originating from Variety. The film already has a few names attached: Kobun Shizuno (Detective Conan) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Knights of Sidonia) will be co-directing, with Gen Urobuchi (Pyscho-Pass: The Movie) in charge of the film’s script. While those are all indeed real people, I’m having a hard time believing those titles are real. But whatever, I’ll role with it.
I love me some Godzilla, so I’m down with this. I think Godzilla will lend itself well to the animated medium (although it won’t be the first attempt). I’m always up for watching Godzilla do some good ol’ fashion city stomping, even in animated form. With the film set to release next year, it’ll be a nice way to satisfy my Godzilla fix, with the sequel to the 2014 film getting delayed to 2019 (yes I know about Godzilla: Resurgence, and no I haven’t watched it).
You guys down for a an anime Godzilla or nah? Sound off in the comments below.
