Never thought I’d count the days until the release of a musical.
It’s no secret that I am in no way shape or form a fan of musicals. But it looks as if La La Land has set out to convince me otherwise, because this film looks fucking great. Seriously, what’s not to love? A return of the absurdly magnificent chemistry between one Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, plus the beautifully constructed and composed shots of director Damien Chanzelle (Whiplash). And to top it all off, the film sounds like it’s going to have a beautifully killer soundtrack and melodies to complete this delightful package. And I don’t use the word delightful often.
We’ve already gotten one fantastic trailer for the film, so it’s no surprise that the second is equally congenial. Check it out:
Can it be December already? Please? This is one of my most anticipated films of the year, as it should be yours. Everything about La La Land is ticking all the boxes with what I look for in a romanctic movie, so I’m pretty ready to fall in love with this film.
La La Land opens with a limited release on December 2nd, with a wide release set for December 16th (watch out Rogue One). In the mean time, why don’t you guys check out this synopsis/poster combo?
Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Damien Chazelle, La La Land tells the story of Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
You going or nah?
