You can’t make this shit up guys.
This may be the strangest movie news story I’ve written about yet. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Fox has purchased the movie rights to the life story of the iconic Stan Lee. Sounds like a good idea right? Who wouldn’t want to see a biopic about the man who by all but started the Marvel empire that everyone has come to know and love today?
Well too bad, we aren’t getting that.
According to THR, Fox plans to turn the Stan Lee movie into ’70s set action film starring the character of Stan Lee for reasons unknown. Yes, you read that right, Fox is turning the Marvel Godfather into a bonafide action star. The film is being produced Twilight and The Maze Runner producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, and is said to have tone similar to that of Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Yup. I’m as confused as you are. Just what the hell is going on here? Stan Lee’s story could make for a compelling and interesting biopic, but for some reason Fox isn’t satisfied with making a mockery of the superheroes Lee created, they’ve decided to fuck up the Stan Lee story as well.
I honestly just don’t know what to make of this news. This is one of the weirdest stories I’ve read about, and I have such a morbid curiosity to see how this pans out. Knowing Fox’s track record with Stan Lee related properties, it’ll most likely be terrible.
