Times are tough in Camelot.
Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for Pablo Larrain’s Jackie, the biopic starring Natalie Portman as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The film chronicles Jackie’s grief as she struggles through the trauma of watching her husband get assassinated, and dealing with the fallout of that horrific event. It looks intense as hell, especially the shots of the car speeding down the highway as Jackie cradles her husband’s head and Jackie washing John’s brains and blood off in the shower.
Here’s the trailer:
Wow, this looks great. The film is already coming off of rave reviews from the TIFF and Venice film festivals, with many critics singling out how fantastic Portman’s performance is. Jackie is definitely looking to be an Oscar contender as we head in to awards season, if you’re one of the losers intersted in the awards race. I know I am.
Here’s a synopsis:
JACKIE is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). JACKIE places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.
Jackie opens to a limited release on December 2. You going or nah?
