The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just dropped and oh boy is it a good one. In fact, this is by far the best trailer we’ve gotten for the film yet. It also reveals the most about the film’s plot, so keep that in mind. I’m gonna go ahead and get out of the way so you can see for yourself.

Here it is:

Wow, this looks fantastic. Where do I even begin?

Gareth Edwards’  directorial eye for scale and framing is incredible. We’ve seen the Death Star a million times already, but never has it looked so intimidating than it does in these Rogue One trailers (take note The Force Awakens). And it isn’t just the Death Star: the AT-ATs, the Star Destroyers, the planets, the immense scale of everything is felt and makes the film look visually stunning. If Edwards’ previous Godzilla is anything to go by, there’s going to be some serious eye candy to feast on in Rogue One.

Not only that, but the tone feels perfect in this trailer as well. The other two trailers were good, but they each had either a stilted line read or a similar issue that made something feel off about them. This one however, hits all the right notes. The urgency and danger of the mission is felt, the Empire looks as menacing as it’s ever been, and god damn does Vader look terrifying.

My man Imperial Droid K-2S0 looks as awesome as ever. This is the best look we’ve gotten at the new characters in Rogue One, and so far I’m really liking what we’ve seen. They all look visually interesting, and a sense of camaraderie between the rebels can already be felt. I can’t wait to see Vader slaughter them all.

And of course, what would Star Wars be without daddy issues? Of which we get plenty of in the trailer. I’m really curious to see more of Mads Mikkelsen’s character, especially after learning he helped design the Death Star. Maybe he’s the unsung hero who purposely built a faulty exhaust port into the space station?

I guess we’ll find out when Rogue One hits theaters December 16th.
