Marvel has long been derided for their inconsistent and at times forgettable scores (barring a few exceptions of course) Those of you who had the pleasure of checking out Doctor Strange this weekend may have noticed the film’s fantastic score, composed by one Michael Giacchino. Doctor Strange’s score has to be one of the best – if not the best – scores in the entirety of the MCU. Which is why this upcoming news excites me.

Yes, that ‘s right. Michael Giacchino, known for his work on The Incredibles, Star Trek, Inside Out, Zooptopia, and this year’s Rogue One, has officially announced that he will score Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming.

This is amazing news! Whilst I enjoyed the music in The Amazing Spider-Man, it failed to usurp Danny Elfman’s original score as the definitive Spider-Man music. With Giacchino scoring Homecoming, I firmly believe that will change. Giacchino has already proven his talent at scoring superhero films, giving him Spider-Man is the right move.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to swing into theaters July 7th, 2017. Only eight more months guys!
