The first trailer for the upcoming horror film The Belko Experiment is here, and boy do thing’s get bloody.
Note: this film is predicated on the slaughter of one’s coworkers, so maybe watch this from the safety of your own home, eh?
This looks delightfully schlocky, gleefully borrowing elements from High-Rise, the Purge franchise, and Battle Royale for violent, indulgent fun. There’s some great dark humor in this trailer, with more exploding heads than you can shake a stick at. Though I will admit, I’ll always guiltily find some entertainment value watching a group normal people forced into slaughtering one other. I wonder what that says about me.
The film’s dark yet comedic tone makes perfect sense once you learn who is behind this film: Greg McLean of Wolf Creek fame finds himself in the director’s chair, with a script penned by James Gunn, mastermind behind modern classics such as Slither, Super, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Here’s a synopsis:
The Belko Experiment explores a twisted social experiment, in which a group of 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogata and ordered by an unknown voice on an intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed. It stars 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s John Gallagher Jr., Scandal‘s Tony Goldwyn, True Detective‘s Adria Arjona, John C. McGinley, Silicon Valley‘s Josh Brener, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn and Melonie Diaz, who co-starred in Fruitvale Station.
The Belko Experiment is set to hit theaters March 17th, 2017. I’m all in with this thing. What about you guys?
