Another day, another Trainspotting 2 trailer. The marketing for this movie feels like it’s been going on forever at this point, but nevertheless, this film still looks excellent. The latest trailer aims to remind you of its humble roots. Check it out:

While not as effective as previous excellent trailers, this trailer did its job of getting me excited about it, and frankly, remind me of its existence. Seriously, I’m kind of surprised Trainspotting 2 isn’t out yet. Wasn’t this thing originally supposed to come out in January? No? Maybe I’m taking crazy pills.

Anyway, this trailer serves as a nice trip down memory lane, reminding us of the excellence of the first film. Hopefully, T2 (no, not that other T2) doesn’t rely too heavily on nostalgia and reverence for the first film, as that will get old very quickly. Still, I have faith in director Danny Boyle to deliver an excellent film. I can’t wait to spend a couple of hours hanging out with the gang again, even if my enthusiasm has waned slightly in the wait.

In case you haven’t seen the original film or need reminding what the hell is going on in the sequel, here’s a synopsis:

First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal.

Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to the only place he can ever call home.

They are waiting for him: Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle).

Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

Trainspotting 2 hits US theaters March 17th. You guys excited?
