The new Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer is finally here and well, there’s a lot to digest. Let’s check this thing out:
Not to get ahead of myself, but based on the marketing alone, this iteration of Spider-Man feels like the definitive take on the character. Every bit we’ve seen from the upcoming film feels like a pure embodiment of the character, and this latest trailer is no different.
I could go on and on about all the amazing things we just saw: the classic Spider-Man wit, beautiful and colorful visuals, disappointed dad Tony Stark, menacing as hell Michael Keaton Vulture, Spider-Man continuing his crusade against public transportation disasters, and of course, the legendary Captain America cameo. There are so many great things in this trailer, almost too much perhaps.
My one complaint is it feels like Sony stuffed this trailer full when they really didn’t need to. I’m guessing that a lot of this would have played better had you seen it in theaters for the first time as opposed to a trailer. We really didn’t need a breakdown of each separate act. Imagine how it would feel seeing that Cap cameo or Tony flying in to save the day at the last second for the first time in theaters? Granted, I was already hyped for this film, and this trailer managed to elevate that even further, so, mission accomplished I guess?
Nevertheless, we’re seeing this thing opening weekend no matter how much the trailer gives away. Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters July 7th.
