So, the first teaser trailer for the acclaimed coming-of-age comedy Brigsby Bear hit the web today, and, well, why don’t you just take a look:
This is this first I’ve even heard of Brigsby Bear, and it looks sufficiently weird. From what I can tell, Kyle Mooney watches a creepy old TV show about a creepy bear in his fallout bunker (possibly post-apocalyptic? vaguely sci-fi?) before deciding to strap on his gas mask and make his own version with Mark Hamill. Aside from that, I can’t really tell what the hell is going on. But I’m definitely into it.
Here’s the official synopsis to let us know what exactly this thing is all about:
Brigsby Bear Adventures is a children’s TV show produced for an audience of one: James (Kyle Mooney). When the show abruptly ends, James’s life changes forever, he sets out to finish the story himself and must learn to cope with the realities of a new world that he knows nothing about.
Huh. Well, I guess I wasn’t that far off. It certainly has an intriguing premise. Either way, I’m buying what this thing is selling. Especially after seeing this official poster for the film:
The film’s received a ton of buzz coming out coming out of Cannes and Sundance, so by all accounts, this should be kept on your radar. The film also stars Greg Kinnear, Beck Bennett, Claire Danes, Kate Lyn Sheil, Ryan Simpkins, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Matt Walsh and Michaela Watkins. Brigsby Bear
Brigsby Bear opens in select theaters on July 28th. You into this weirdness?
