Spoken, the critics have.
Well, the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere was last night. While the actual review embargo doesn’t drop until Tuesday night, Disney allowed critics to share their first reactions to the film via social media, mostly Twitter.
Is it better than Empire? Just another rehash? Is Darth Jar Jar confirmed? Let’s see what everyone has to say (spoiler alert: they’re very positive):
So, as you can obviously see, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with critics praising its uniqueness, and specifically citing Mark Hamill’s performance as the best of his career. Now, keep in mind that these first Twitter reactions are almost always the most positive response a film will get.
With that being said, it seems Disney and Lucasfilm have something very special here. It looks like Rian Johnson has turned in a great, weird, and very different Star Wars film. With a response like this, it makes sense why Disney is essentially handing him the keys to the Star Wars franchise after Episode IX.
We’re just a few days away from the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it’s almost here. My advice? Stay off the internet until you’ve seen it.
